Notes for Francoise Gaudet:

1671 Census of Acadia"

Daniel LeBland, age 45 years, his wife Francoise Gaudet, age 48 years, their children seven, one girl married, Francoise LeBland, age 18 years. The unmarried one, Jacques LeBland 20 years, Etienne, age 15 years, Rene aged 14 years, Andre aged 12 years, Antoine aged nine years, Pierre aged 7 years. their horned animals 18 and of sheep 26. their plowed land 10 acres in 2 locations World Family Tree researcher v 2 # 3251 has Francoise marrying a Mercier in 1650. This cannot be true as the census of 1671 showed her still married to Daniel LeBlanc. The child Marie Mercier is then shown as marrying in 1661 in France ( born abt 1640 something??). All very suspicious. This Mercier marriage of Jean or Francoise is definitely not clear. Researchers seem to be evenly divided as to which man Francoise married first and where, some listing marriage to each man in France or Acadia. Researcher WFT v2 #3249 cites "!LIFE: From "Terrebonne Life Lines" v11 #1 p72" that she married Mercier first (CA 1645) and then LeBlanc. This fits the data of researcher WFT v2 #4512 that Daniel LeBlanc came to Acadia in 1661(citing Arsenault and Jehn), ten years before the census. We know that Daniel LeBlanc and his wife Francoise Gaudet were listed in the census of 1671 with a son 20 years old and a daughter 18. This would indicate that she married Mercier first in France, then married LeBlanc second, in France, before they came to Acadia. Acts and dates are shown with this logic, and the data from those trees found with citations.
